Hey hey friends,
Happy Thursday!
So today’s topic is an argument against being timeless in your wedding fashion choices. I know. Cue the gasps, fainting, and running away in horror. But Christina, what do you mean “enough of being timeless?????" Everyone is always advocating for and praising a timeless look!
Well, seven years ago when I was interning at Kleinfeld, I remember one of the consultants saying something about how if you love the gown NOW don’t worry about it being timeless twenty years from now. And honestly, it kind of stuck. I mean classic gowns are gorgeous and will always be stunning, but there are only so many classic gowns to go around. If you’re just not super into that style, well then either you’re out of luck or you’ll wind up wearing something you feel meh about.
Now I will be clear in saying, if something is SOOOO trendy that in a year you’re going to look back and be like, “WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME,” then maybe just maybe, you should skip it. But if you fall in love with a dress, cry, the whole thing, and it is more on the fashion-forward or trendy side, why would you give that up for the sake of being classic or timeless when that isn’t really your style?
And another thing! Isn’t it kinda cool how we can look back and be like, “Oh that gown was from the 80s?” Imagine this homogeneous fashion world were you can’t tell what decade anything is from because everything is the same. What a boring world and fashion landscape it would be!
Now if like me, you do tend to have more of a classic style, go for it! I’m addressing brides who feel like they can’t have a little fun with their wedding day look.
What team are you on? Team timeless or are you on team trendy? Or maybe you’re a mix of both like me! Let me know and don’t forget to subscribe for more wedding-related content!
